5:09 pm - You Can Take The Boy Out Of Rockingham
|
But you can't take Rockingham out of the boy.
This interview really cracks me up

Perth-born Sam Worthington, star of "Terminator-Salvation", is doing a lot of press at the moment. As well as starring in "Terminator Salvation", he's also soon to appear in James Cameron's "Avatar" and, of interest to readers of this blog, "Clash of The Titans", which is now filming in Canary Islands.
Here's what he has to say about Titans;
He told IESB: "We've been filming it for two weeks now and I'm more bruised and battered than I was on Terminator. We've taken on Medusa, we've taken on the witches, and then we just kill everything else. It's a bit more brutal.
"There's no togas, or there's very few togas. I said, "I'm not wearing a toga. Bugger that!" You can't look manly in a toga, I'm sorry. I couldn't do it. Louis [Leterrier] is a very good action director, so it's going to be exciting and big, and my job is to bring the heart."
Amongst Titans' stellar cast is Hans Matheson appearing as Ixas. No-one seems to have any idea who Ixas is - there is no Ixas in the original 1981 version of Clash Of The Titans and there doesn't seem to be an Ixas in the pantheon of Greek Gods or any references to him. Correct me if I'm mistaken. I don't know much about Greek Mythology.
Somewhere in one of the interviews with Sam Worthington, he mentions that he "and his gang" are "running around in dresses f*%#king killin' everything".
So I'm wondering if Hans might be one of those. That would be awesome.
Back to Sam, he finished the interview thus
"I did a drama, like Just me and Eva Mendes and Keira Knightley set in New York. Just normal clothes, sitting around. I crave the gun and the sword to be honest. It was bizarre. The kissing scenes, I wasn't getting the same sort of rush!"
Oh Sam, don't you know you're supposed to rave about Keira Knightley!
So, see yous.

|
Tess of the D'Urbervilles will be screened on BBC1 in the UK from Sunday 14th September for four episodes.
There are some fantastic production stills at Gemma Arterton Online.
Here's a preview

There was an article about Hans on Sunday in Glasgow's Sunday Mail. Looks like we won't be seeing Cranmer in a third season of "The Tudors" after all.

First pics I've seen - from the set of "Tess Of The D'Urbervilles" , thanks to Gemma Arterton Online
Apparently they're screen captures from a short segment on TV. Now, it'd be great if someone had a copy of that to share......

9:25 am - The Overheated Scottish
|
At last, thanks to Zita, we have a translation for this article
http://www.vasarnap.com/clanok.asp?cl=3233591
Article in Hungarian media
After shooting "Half-light" Demi Moore was asked about her handsome scottish partner, Hans Matheson. She answered the question not with three sentences, but with three words: I am impressed...Acting his umpteenth role in this hitchthingy-crime-style movie he had a great effect produced on Demi - not only with his appearance, but his knowledge... (Here are informations about his early years, and previous films- nothing new for us...) Where could Caravaggio meet Báthory Erzsébet?Jakubisko takes the idea upon himself:maybe just in his imagination. "For they've been living in the same age, I think they have had the chance to meet.Italian historians don't even know, where he spent two years after a murder he committed. Maybe my story is fictitious but the dates are identical.Tailors of Venice had been working for Báthory Erzsébet, so they could meet in the Town of Lagoons. Caravaggio was in love for a student of the painter-school - this caused the tragedy. In my film he mentions, that he has never kissed anyone, never had a woman in his life ."(So that's why to be overheated...) Jakubisko could ask anything - it was not a problem for Hans Matheson , he could play right away. " Working with him was very easy, because he is a highly talented boy. (No comment...) This role was shining out of him.I like this kind of actors. He is asking, meditating, searching for different solutions, cooperates, believing in what he is doing. He is searching for fine extras, the tiny impulses of the figure. He's got so many ideas, that even in the moments of shooting he is able to add something new to the role. But he can also be rude, when it is required. He used to inspire himself always with the music of the scene. He was listening to the soundtrack before stepping in front of the camera. Working with him is like playing on a Stradivari. Each tones sound clearly out of it.In the film he paints and plays music as well, just as in private life.Everyone loved him in the team .(DO YOU UNDERSTAND IT ?) He's got grateful nature - it's easy to adore him. ( :)) There is a much more passionable loving scene in the film : after the death of her husband, Bathory Erzsébet and Caravaggio meet in the church and make love in a confessional. We shooted this scene in the Gothic church of Kutná Hora. Hans was performing with total devotion (hhhh...), but so much, that in the end during the cutting progression I had to take back of his passion and I rather had to show Anna Friel's face. He was acting so hotly, that I thought I mustn't show everything to the audience - I have to leave some momentums to their own imagination. " Deana Horvathova, the producer of the film began to fight for Matheson a half year before the beginning of the shooting. His agency had other plans with the young artist. But the stubbornness of Horvathova got the better of him. She kept on struggling until she got him. In the end she also deployed Anna Friel, who rang him up, saying : Don't care about anything, here's your place in this film! And Matheson has been listening to her calling words. " I was even caught by his photos - says the unshakable producer - There' s something in his eyes that you are not able to get rid of.(HAVE YOU NOTICED?) He is a kind man. Even a man, but he may have the child in him. I felt, that he will be ideal in the role, because during the rehearses I saw the two extremes in him - just as in Caravaggio, but in the course of the filming I've been surprised. He is really a Renaissance man in the film. Just as he has stepped out of a canvas of that age."
So... all we have to do is waiting and getting more and more excited about the film. I think we won't be disappointed. Our overheated Scottish must have done his best again...
I hope my translation is understandable.

4:24 pm - Hans In My Junk Mail
|
Yup, just glancing through the junk mail before chucking it all into the recycling bin when - whoa. That's Hans there on the cover of "Half Light", available this week at Big W for the very reasonable price of $8.83. Yes, that's right eighty THREE cents.
So no Aussie has an excuse not to own their own copy!
Alongside "Antwone Fisher", "I Am Sam" and "Changing Lanes" ad other great cinematic masterpieces.
